24 elite pianists from 11 countries compete for US$31,000 in cash prizes, plus solo and orchestral engagements. Rounds 1 (October 25-26) and 2 (October 27-28) feature each competitor in a solo performance (approx. 25 minutes each in Round 1; approx. 30 minutes each in Round 2).

Among the competitors are six Canadians, all from the Toronto area or currently based here. Five come from China, four from South Korea; two each from Israel, Italy and Russia; and one each from Australia, Slovenia, Spain and the United States/Japan.

Six semi-finalists will be announced at the conclusion.
