Tomahawk Tuesdays

This is your chance to throw tomahawks with some of the best throwers in Canada!

Throwing tomahawks is different from throwing axes, and is a distinction we want to be sure new throwers are aware of. Although similar in many ways, tomahawks are designed specifically for throwing.

In terms of throwing tomahawks, the main difference is, when throwing and competing in tomahawks, you always throw three 'hawks, with three separate targets (similar to knife throwing) and you throw from multiple distances (starting at three metres and going back upwards of 9 metres).

The scoring is identical to knife throwing, with five points for the bullseye, four for the next ring, three, two and one, outwards. Points are awarded based on the tomahawk touching even the smallest amount of paint to the higher scoring point on the target (aka, if the majority of your blade is in the four ring, but you are touching even a fraction of the bullseye, you are awarded five points).

These sessions are intended for introductory throwers, as well as to allow you to practice on-going, throwing from longer distances, improving your accuracy and technique.

The TKTO plans to start a Tomahawk League in Spring 2017. This is your chance to get started early!
