When multi instrumentalist/composer Tich Maredza arrived in Canada from Zimbabwe, by way of Australia and the U.S., 8 years ago, guitar under one arm, marimba under the other , an mbira in his teeth; he quickly formed a band to present his original compositions. That band is still intact. Original, contemporary and at the same time distinctly Southern African in style, the music of The Tich Maredza Band is in a word..Art, Art that moves the body and the soul.
