The Trash Palace is Back!!! Destroy All Planets - Thu. July 3!!!

Brothers and sisters, cats and chicks, hempsters and hempettes, it is time for a new beginning in the annals of Toronto Cinema as the underground movie emporium The Trash Palace comes out into the light in a stunning new format!!

Yes, we are moving up in the world with a special night once a month at the Revue Cinema, which is located at 400 Roncesvalles Avenue, three blocks south of Bloor and Dundas Street West.

Every first Thursday of the month, the Revue will be transformed into the Trash Palace as Stacey and the Mouth return to action presenting long forgotten films in vintage 16mm. And to kick things off, we are going to go into the realm of the fantastic and show the producers of the new Godzilla film what a monster movie is all about!

Gamera the Flying Turtle started out much like Godzilla, in that in his first appearance, he was a total badass who just destroyed ships, buildings and oil refineries because the army woke him up from his prehistoric sleep and he was pissed! But by the time of Destroy all Planets, original title Gamera vs Viras, he's had a bit of a change of heart, and now he's much nicer and is literally known as "the friend to all children."

But just because they took away his bite, it doesn't mean that the films aren't fun, freaky and over the top. This one is packed with all kinds of crazy stuff as Gamera pisses off some aliens by stopping their invasion of Earth, so they come back and take control of his mind!!

If that isn't enough, there's also a giant spaceship that looks like a bumblebee, freaky aliens that range from looking like zombies to a giant squid, lots of vibrating orbs and flashing lights, buildings exploding, dams breaking, and, as in most old school Kaiju movies, two kids who are smarter than the world's top scientists and an invading alien force from space!

If you need a sneak peek, here's the original Japanese trailer for the film in 1968! If this doesn't convince you, I don't know what will.
