The Provincial Archive is a folk-informed indie-pop quartet.

Returning to Toronto from the deep west, Edmonton Alberta's THE PROVINCIAL ARCHIVE has been honing their craft in dark northern Canadian winters over the last five years. In this time they have independently released two recordings, toured the country and travelled the world at the beckoning of their talent. While The Provincial Archive would not deny influence from indie-folk and pop icons, the band's development shows an evergreen dedication to their art. What started as an intimate voice-in-your-ear has evolved into the melodic and artistic indie-pop that they perform on tours and at festivals across Canada and around the world.

The Provincial Archive's third release and first studio-work was released on August 19, 2014 via Black Box.

It's All Shaken Wonder 2014 is an indie-pop recording at heart. It's a focused album with unique character, and an identity that you'll find beneath the production. It sets a deeply personal lyrical catalog to the sound of consonant and colourful harmony: a bittersweet pairing of lyric and melody on a backdrop of rough-coloured recording, and methodical songwriting. From moment to moment you are taken from upbeat consonance to discord; sweet melodies, that float among jangling guitars, wash together with detuned synthesizers, and haunting vocal arrangements. Here you'll find all of The Provincial Archive's strengths at play: thick vocal harmony, entangled melody and indiscriminate instrumentation. Each has become synonymous with The Provincial Archive's reputation; It's All Shaken Wonder is a creative high water mark.

As soon as you see Charlotte Cornfield play, you know it: shes the real thing, says Maisonneuve Magazine. At 6 feet tall, with tousled blond hair and a comic demeanor, Cornfield has something luminous about her. Whether standing at the microphone, playing a savage guitar line or holding it down on the drums, the 25-year-old soulful folk rocker brings a rare intensity to every performance.

The daughter of a cellist/radio-producer father and writer mother, the Toronto native spent her childhood in a tangle of words and music. She burned holes in the discographies of Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Neil Young in between lessons, rehearsals, and a gamut of other extracurricular activities. When she wasnt on the move, she hung out in the basement with paper and pen, filling notebook after notebook with lyric ideas.
