Sontag Shogun, Blevin Blectum and Khora

April 20, 8 pm, Free ($5 suggested donation)

Brooklyn-based Sontag Shogun hits the road this Spring with electronic avant-IDM queen Blevin Blectum on a tour that will take them around the American Northeast and through parts of Ontario, Canada. Both projects will be touring in support of recent and forthcoming albums; Sontag Shogun's much-anticipated full-length studio debut, "Tale" and Blevin Blectum's "Emblem", the follow-up to her splendid 2008 album on Aagoo Records, "Gular Flutter".

Here at Gerrard Art Space, Sontag Shogun will perform an intimate, extended durational set of mostly new material composed for piano and electronics (treated vocals, field recordings, tapes, amplified surfaces), accompanied by projections of amateur home movies from across the United States, filmed between 1936 and 1962. Both sets will be preceded by a short recital of the graphic score piece entitled, "Quartet for 5 Unamplified Paint Brushes" performed by all members of Sontag Shogun + Blevin Blectum. Supporting will be the brilliant electro-acoustic sound manipulator Khôra (Constellation).

Sontag Shogun will be selling advance copies of their forthcoming album, "Tale" (Palaver Press; Luau Records; Ricco Label, 2014) which will only be made available in stores on 6 May, 2014.
