Scene on the Plaza Summer Series

This summer, Yorkville’s Gardiner Museum launches SCENE ON THE PLAZA, a series of five outdoor after-work socials with music, food, drink and art. Kicking off on Friday, June 27, the Gardiner’s street-facing patio will play host to the weekly-themed art parties featuring live music and DJs curated by Do Right! Music, Wine by Southbrook Vineyards, Beer by Steam Whistle Pilsner, Food by à la Carte Kitchen Inc.

The series runs every Friday from June 27 until July 25, from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

The Gardiner Museum has partnered with Do Right! Music to offer a line-up of exciting musical artists and DJs:

“Summer Camp”

Friday, June 27

featuring Maylee Todd, live PA and DJ set

Celebrate summer and WorldPride with the series launch of Scene on the Plaza! Experience a downtown version of summer camp, featuring the soulful dance floor rhythms of Toronto songstress Maylee Todd in a live performance and DJ set. Guests will also enjoy barbeque and free access to the Gardiner’s feature exhibition, Camp Fires: The Queer Baroque of Léopold L. Foulem, Paul Mathieu & Richard Milette, a Major Partner event for WorldPride Toronto. Dress code: shades of pink are encouraged.

We pay tribute to our neighbours to the south and celebrate American Independence Day! The Soul Motivators, Toronto’s 9-piece live funk unit meets Do Right! Music’s label boss, DJ John Kong. Groove with the sounds of soul, afrobeat, the roots of funk and classic hip-hop breaks.

featuring DJ Paul E. Lopes and Jason Palma

DJ Paul E. Lopes and DJ Jason Palma, the host of CIUT’s Higher Ground radio show, transform the Gardiner into a ‘70s disco scene straight from an episode of Love Boat.

“British Invasion”

Friday, July 25

featuring DJ Katie Lavoie and DJ John Kong

The series wraps with a British fete featuring DJ Katie Lavoie and DJ John Kong. The duo sets the stage for “Swinging London”, spinning an all-vinyl set of soul, garage, and Brit-pop.
