Refugee Fundraising & Awareness Evening: "We Cannot Go There Now, My Dear"

Come learn about the situation of Palestinian Refugees displaced from Syria and how you can help!

You have heard about the crisis in Syria and the many people who have been displaced and others who have lost their lives in the conflict. For Palestinians, the conflict has caused some to become a refugee a second time -- leaving Syria in the hopes of finding greater security elsewhere.

To learn more, join us on January 25th to watch the documentary "We Cannot Go There Now, My Dear", hear how Canadians can make a difference through sponsoring refugees, and enjoy some music by local artists Sandra and Gab.

To get a preview of the film, watch the trailer here: http://vimeo.com/111201415

This event is organized by the Refugee Working Group from Bathurst United Church. We are working in Partnership with AURA For Refugees to sponsor a gay Palestinian-Syrian refugee currently residing in Lebanon. For more information on either organization, see http://www.bathurstunited.ca/ and http://www.auraforrefugees.org/

There is no admission charge, but we are accepting donations as we seek to raise $12,600 to support the sponsorship of a refugee. Any funds raised above our target amount will be used for other refugee sponsorships in the future. Donations over $20 are eligible for a tax receipt.

Some food and refreshments will be provided.
