An evening of song and story.

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the First World War, the writer, David Macfarlane, and the musician/composer, Douglas Cameron, collaborate in telling the story of Macfarlane's award winning book, The Danger Tree. "A breathtaking evocation of Newfoundland's cliffs and rocks and pines".

Douglas Cameron's career spans over four decades and is rooted deeply in the folk. blues, and country music traditions. His live shows combine poignant songs, humour-laced stories, and multi-instrumental prowess. Although he continues to perform across Canada, he has applied his compositional talents to the world of television and movies for the past fifteen years. Recently Douglas has been exploring the banjola, a hybrid instrument combining elements of the five string banjo, mandola and guitar. Its haunting sound has become a mainstay of his performances.

David Macfarlane has won numerous National Magazine and National Newspaper Awards. The Danger Tree won the Canadian Authors Association Award for Non-Fiction, and his novel, Summer Gone, was nominated for the Giller Prize. His latest novel, The Figures of Beauty, was published in 2013. His play, Fishwrap, was produced at the Tarragon Theatre and his musical portrait of the city in which he lives, The Toronto Suite, was performed at the Glenn Gould Theatre.
