Prefix Photo 31: Release Party & Exhibition Opening
Prefix Institute of Contemporary Art is pleased to celebrate the release of the thirty-first issue of Prefix Photo magazine. On the subject of natural resources, the issue features Ellyn Walker on decolonization in relation to Site Santa Fes Unsettled Landscapes; Scott McLeod and Hamza Walker on the photographs and films of Yto Barrada; and Jayne Wilkinson on the prevalence of water at La Biennale de Montral 2014. It also includes a literary feature by Shawn Micallef; portfolios by Taysir Batniji, Scott Chandler, Mishka Henner, Susana Reisman and Victoria Sambunaris; book reviews by Amy Fung, Sarah Munro, Robin Simpson and Kate Steinmann; and much more. Many of the contributors will be present.
In conjunction with the release party, Prefix ICA is proud to present Beaux Gestes, an exhibition featuring recent film and photo-based installations by French-Moroccan artist Yto Barrada. The exhibition is curated by Scott McLeod and Vicky Moufawad-Paul, and presented in partnership with A Space Gallery as a primary exhibition of the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival. The exhibition is supported by the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts.
