"Power of Myth" Fall Course: The Hero's Return - Finding Your Treasure

Power of Myth courses integrate issues of meaning and personal discovery with the pragmatics of modern life. Each class consists of exposition and discussion, geared towards the integration and application of the wisdom of the myths discussed.

Fall 2016 Course:

The Hero's Return: Finding Your Treasure

What is the goal of your journey? How does it benefit others?

The Call to Personal Discovery:

The Sword Serieslooks at the final stages of your journey, actually procuring your elixir, and sharing it with humankind. The journey does not end at integration (Heart series): an open heart is an asset to the world. Treasure is to be shared. This may take the form of a developing a product or service, or simply sharing your story and inspiring others. (Key Archetype: Hero).

The Treasure:

Learn what your personal treasure is, how to acquire it, and how to pragmatically harness the fruits of your labour to better the world.

The Mythic Maps:

Moses and monotheism; Joseph's rise to power in Egypt; Prometheus and his punishment; Arjuna’s lament in the Mahabharata; a comparison of Frodo and Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings series.

Courses take place at the University of Toronto (downtown campus, near St. George subway station). Location specifics provided upon registration.
