Pivot at The Steady on May 6th: Shane Neilson, Julie Paul, Damian Rogers & Blair Trewartha

After a successful opener at our new venue, Pivot, um, pivots towards the rest of our season and brings four more readers to The Steady Cafe. Palimpsest Press poet Blair Trewartha is joined by visiting BC author Julie Paul, poet and more Shane Neilson, and Anansi editor/poet Damian Rogers.

Cast List

Shane Neilson was born in New Brunswick. He obtained his MD from Dalhousie University, and an MFA at the University of Guelph. Neilsons books include the collections Meniscus and Complete Physical, the memoir Gunmetal Blue, and the short story collection Will. His newest is On Shaving off his Face, from Porcupines Quill.

Julie Pauls stories, poems and essays have been published in numerous journals, including The Malahat Review, Event, The Fiddlehead, Geist, Vallum, Canadian Living, and in the anthologies Coming Attractions 07 and Women Behaving Badly. Her collection of stories, The Jealousy Bone, was released in February, 2008, by Emdash Publishing. Her second collection of short fiction, The Pull of the Moon, published by Brindle & Glass in the fall of 2014,

Damian Rogers was born and raised in suburban Detroit and now lives in Toronto. She holds a bachelors degree from the University of Michigan and a graduate degree from Bennington College. She is the author of Dear Leader Coach House Books, 2015 and Paper Radio ECW Press, 2009. She is the poetry editor at House of Anansi Press, the creative director of Poetry in Voice/Les voix de la posie, the poetry editor at The Walrus and co-host with Jason Collett of the music and literary performance series the Basement Revue.

Blair Trewartha is a Toronto-based poet whose work has appeared in Carousel, Prism, CV2, Event, Existere, and Qwerty. His first full length collection, Easy Fix was published last fall with Palimpsest Press. He has published 2 chapbooks, Break In, Cactus Press in 2010 and Porcupine Burning Baseline Press 2012. He is the former co-host of the Toronto reading series, The Vagabond Trust, and a co-editor of Misunderstandings Magazine.
