Phase 2 of the Rexdale Community Gateway Mural unveils at Kipling Avenue and Belfield Road

Join Arts For Children and Youth (AFCY) and community partners in celebrating the official unveiling of phase 2 of the Rexdale Community Gateway Mural located on the North-West corner of Kipling Avenue and Belfield Road. The unveiling will take place in front of the mural on Friday, August 22, 2014 (9:00-10:00am) with speeches starting shortly after 9:00am.

With the support from our generous funders, sponsors, and in-kind partners, the gateway into Rexdale was completed with the second of two remarkable public murals that collectively represent the community’s natural and human stories. The impressive 370-foot long mural is located on a retaining wall connected to a large underpass, and is the second part to a project that was completed last summer on the North-East corner of Kipling and Belfield.

Rexdale Community Gateway Mural is generously supported by the City of Toronto's StreetARToronto (StART) program, Deloitte Canada, Toronto Pearson, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life, RBC Foundation, Mantella & Sons Ltd, Griggs Family Foundation, Dufferin Concrete, GO Transit, Ministry of Transportation Ontario, Tropicana Youth Services, Soheil Mosun Ltd and General Paints.

Arts for Children and Youth (AFCY) is an award-winning organization whose mandate is to engage young people living in priority neighbourhoods in high-quality, accessible arts educational programs that are meaningful, relevant and collaboratively developed with community and education partners. AFCY positions arts programs in schools and neighbourhood venues as a means of building community, and empowering marginalized children and youth to reach their full potential as artists and social contributors.
