PASS: a durational performance by Anthea Black and Mikiki

As part of Nuit Rose, Anthea Black and Mikiki perform a series of ritual PASSings in James Canning Gardens, that use hair and textile as central images for the

passing of time

passing the torch

passing away

passing of knowledge

passing of skill.

Many kinds of queer and material knowledge are constructed around the notion of passing, including elaborate forms of hair, self-presentation, drag, and costume. Queer bodies know and hold more than can be told, or spoken; for one night only we pass together, to each other, and celebrate the legacy of our decade-long friendship as a leather dyke and drag queen.
