Our Old School: Gord Sheard at Shops at Don Mills

Gordon Sheard has enjoyed a many-faceted career as a professional musician for three decades. He has toured with the bands Manteca, Rick Shadrach Lazar and The Montuno Police, and Montreal bassist Alain Caron's Le Band, among others. Composition is also an important part of Gord's musical life; his music may be heard on his CDs All Saints' Bay (2012), Crucible (2006), on three discs on the Avalon and Solitudes labels - Martini Lounge (1998), Romance of Rio (1997), and Piano Cove (2000) - as well as on recordings by John MacLeod (Juno-winning CD Our First Set), Phil Dwyer, Samba Squad, Colleen Allen, Autorickshaw, Rick Shadrach Lazar and The Montuno Police, and Manteca. The latter two bands have also called upon his talents as a producer, as have vocal artists Eliana Cuevas, Yvette Tollar and jazz vocalist/pianist Carol Welsman. In addition, Gordon has been involved in the production and composition of music for television and radio commercials, films, and audio-visual productions since the late 1980s. Gordon has also performed as a musician in the musical theatre and in numerous other live performance situations. Our Old School: Gord Sheard features Gord Sheard, keyboard; John Johnson, reeds; Dave Dunlop, trumpet.; John Findlay, guitar; Colin Barrett, bass; and Mark Kelso, drums.
