Nighthawk Count with Emily

Location: High Park Nature Centre at the Forest School (375 Colborne Lodge Drive)

Cost: Recommended Donation of $2-$5

Ages: 8+

Although one of the iconic species of Toronto’s urban wilderness, Common Nighthawks are still mysterious and poorly understood. One of the more easily recognized birds of our city, they are almost impossible to find during certain parts of their life cycle, and little is known about their habits here. Join Bird Studies Canada (BSC) biologist Emily Rondel to learn about these twilight birds and how BSC is attempting to understand their movements though our city landscape. We will end with a short walk at dusk to the Grenadier Restaurant area, where there are excellent chances of seeing Common Nighthawks up close as they commence their fall migration to South America.
