Drone musics slow moving ambience and long repetitive tones position it as a soothing genre, suitable for relaxation, meditation, and therapeutic practices. Drone music can also contain harsher vibes, reflecting more turbulent states of mind and the anxiety and distress involved in seeking access to therapy and help for mental health.

Drone Therapy Live combines live drone with talking through therapeutic experiences, anecdotes, coping skills, and mental health issues in a casual, drop-in setting. Many Toronto artists exist in precarious living situations conducive to stress, anxiety, isolation, and depression. Moreover, finding professional help for mental health issues is often complicated, stigmatized, and emotionally straining. Drone Therapy is an entry point to support, as a way to approach serious issues in a relaxed and even humourous environment, and suggest channels for creatives to reach out for future help.

Anyone can join the drone jam, and anyone can speak as part of the light, or heavy, therapy discussions. We will have literature on hand to help attendees connect with various Toronto mental health organizations.

Speaker parameters: come to talk, come to listen, but please dont interrupt try to wait until the mic is in your hand. Bring a prepared speech or story to read, tell a story, ask questions, give advice, or chat as part of a discussion. If you want to talk heavy stuff, we want to listen, but please provide trigger warnings for stories of abuse. There will be space indoors for those who want a break from the discussion.

Musician parameters: For more information and/or to sign-up as a performer for Drone Therapy, see our Sign-up Sheet on Google:
