On April 27, 1124, David I became King of Scots. On this day in 1813, American troops captured the capital of Upper Canada in the Battle of York, a short distance from Dundas Square. In 1994, South Africans voted in Nelson Mandela in the country's first multiracial parliamentary elections. And sometime in history on this day, a few people were born.
