LOOM

LOOM emerged in 2011 with the release of Epyllion after a few iterative incantations between the years of 2009 and 2011. Brooke Manning is LOOM, though live and on Epyllion, she looms along with others. In 2009, Brooke recorded Bride Loom, a 5 song EP recorded live in her living room alongside the magnetic and masterful improvisation skills of musicians Thom Gill, Dan Pencer, and Matthew Pencer. She released it under her birth given name, and then toured the EP as support for Erin Lang Canada/UK and Tisso Lake UK Eastern Canadian tour. When travelling, she wrote what would become Epyllion.

Epyllion was recorded over the course of 4 days at Dale Morningstar's Gas Station Studios on Toronto Island during Brooke's artist residency at Gibraltar Artscape. Over the course of 4 days, Dale worked with Brooke to record, mix, and produce the tracks alongside the musicians that visited the island to participate in the recordings- Maya Postepski Austra/Princess Century, Elaine Kelly Carnival Moon, Thom Gill THOMAS, Bernice, Devon Sproule, and Dan Pencer Erin Lang & the Foundlings. Brooke then toured Epyllion in 2011 with Thom Gill.

After some time playing for other projects, Brooke is focusing again on LOOM in 2014 with a new band of magic men including Bryan Bray Gates, Demonic Possessor, John Harry Gates, Heartless Manipulator and Todd MacDonald The Winks, Norvazia with plans to record LOOM's sophomore album in the winter of 2014.

KIRA MAY

Toronto- based vocal looper and choir of one. Melodic, rhythmic and textural elements of voice are explored in layers, creating thick, expressive and haunting soundscapes. Her debut EP Health is due out in January 3014, taking the listener on a journey through the dense wilderness of the body and the mind in pursuit of balance and rest.
