INCOMPETENCE: A New Work in Progress by Sook-Yin Lee with Jenn Goodwin, Mairi Greig, Charlie McGettigan, Adam Litovitz

Dancemakers 2014-15 Technical Residency: Sook-Yin Lee, Jenn Goodwin, Mairi Greig, Charlie McGettigan, Adam Litovitz

Each season, an artist is invited into Dancemakers theatre space for two weeks to continue an ongoing investigation. Dancemakers is pleased to announce that Sook-Yin Lee, Jenn Goodwin, Mairi Greig, Charlie McGettigan and Adam Litovitz will develop a new work from FEB. 16-28, 2015 with a public presentation of the work-in-progress plus a special secret share on Saturday FEB 28 at 2PM.

INCOMPETENCE working title, a work in progress

Conceived & Directed by Sook-Yin Lee

Made with Jenn Goodwin, Mairi Greig, Charlie McGettigan,

and Adam Litovitz

INCOMPETENCE examines the upheaval that comes when one is incapable. Three Dancers embody one woman. Jennifer, a successful high-achiever, is on the brink of a breakdown. Under duress, she is visited by her fearless child-self, and her luminous young-adult-self who express their desires and humiliations, forcing her to wrestle with the fear of incompetence that has haunted her life. Unable to avoid it, incompetence overwhelms and she surrenders to it, discovering what it is made of.

The Dancemakers Technical Residency is the first time the full cast comes together to explore movement that incorporates new video, audio, photography, sound and music by SY Lee with Adam Litovitz.

In addition, the public presentation on Saturday Feb. 28th at 2PM features a sneak-peek at the stunning new music video for Shoulders and Whispers by Jooj conceived by Lee, Litovitz & Brandon Cronenberg, directed by Brandon Cronenberg with cinematography by Karim Hussain and featuring dancers Mairi Greig, Syreeta Hector, and Benjamin Kamino. From the upcoming Jooj debut album on Last Gang Records.
