Higher Learning: Wendy Chun on Habitual New Media

Theorist Wendy Chun joins post-secondary students and faculty to discuss her forthcoming book Updating to Remain the Same: Habitual New Media (16), in which she argues that technologies matter most not when they are new, but when they have become obsolete - when their use becomes habitual. Join us at TIFF Bell Lightbox where Chun will explore how the slow, "creepy" accretion of habits - both conscious and unconscious - relate to distinctions between public and private, memory and storage, and individual actions and social systems.

This event is co-presented by TIFF and York University's Department of Visual Art & Art History.

Free!

Post-secondary students and faculty may reserve tickets in advance! Remaining tickets will be available from the Steve & Rashmi Gupta Box Office two hours before the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
