This month features a free "Garden of Eatin'" dinner by Amy Jemmett.
And music by:
STEVE KADO (http://www.theblankket.com/)
Toronto artist, musician, all around interesting human Steve Kado (Blocks Recording Club, The Blankket, Ninja High School) presents a new composition for solo drum machine. Steve works with slowly mutating forms, bending walls of chaos into kinetic structures. A versatile critical & comical thinker, don't miss this!
THIN EDGE NEW MUSIC COLLECTIVE performs works by NICK STORRING & ANDREW ZUKERMAN (http://www.thethinedgenewmusiccollective.com/)
Adventurous boundary pushing contemporary ensemble founded by Cheryl Duvall and Ilana Waniuk perform works by two of Toronto's up & coming musical minds, birthed from a mixture of contemporary chamber music, electro-acoustic meanderings & the avant freak scene.
NICK STORRING (http://www.nickstorring.ca/) will be presenting a new string quartet piece. Subtle notes whisper as they escape their loose prison. Tiptoeing in a world of fragility. The feeling of birth, all the joy & hope at a pivotal moment, it's fleeting nature unveiled. Ominous tension drifts in the background as bowed notes hum together.
ANDREW ZUKERMAN (Fleshtone Aura, Gastric Female Reflex) presents "Practical Jokes for Chamber Ensemble" a graphic score for violin duo & objects. This Toronto avant garde maverick, dog enthusiast & self proclaimed CCR fan, has been building a fluid & impressive body of work in the murk of Toronto's avant freak scene for over a decade. Manipulating electronics, tape collaging, boiling down the absurd into a fine medium. A master arranger of the obtuse.
ALLISON CAMERON (http://www.allisoncameron.com/bio.html)
Long sanding Toronto composer Allison Cameron is often found preforming on various amplified objects, electronics, toys, pianos and anything else she can get her hands on. A junkyard aesthetic mixed with her care free nature produces playful yet challenging work. Hints of abrasive textures hidden in lost melodies. A true free spirit of the avant garde.
JAMES BAILEY
Electro-acoustic manipulator James Bailey has been producing music in Toronto for decades including his legendary 1986 experimental electronic LP "Dimensions". This month at Feast he will be presenting a piece for tuned radio & theremin, which will make full use of the space. Tuned radios will be installed around the venue to be accompanied by theremin. All manipulated in a dance of interference. A mutating aural landscape governed only by your own position in the space. Don't miss this frequency conductor at work.
