F.A.M 10 Year Anniversary

This year marks the 10th year for the Floor Assassins Militia in the Toronto Hip Hop Community. The FAM have consistently proven to be one of Toronto and Canada's top Hip Hop/Bboy crews while still maintaining a healthy involvement in the surrounding communities. For our 10th Anniversary we are Inviting everyone to experience what our crew is all about and to celebrate 10 years in the game with Great music, food, art and of course some dancing.

THE LINE UP!

Hosted by : Switch B

THE FOOD

To give everyone a literal taste of the FAM we will have as Featured on the Food network the "Food Bwoy Posse” Nathan Zen (FAM) and Clinton Ghosh (MEC) with some signature Toronto soul food.

ART WORK

On the walls and around the bar will be the Art work of two of the FAM's very own Fil Fury and Juan Siez Swift.

Filip Matovina: Sourcing from found images Fil redefines the visual language of his subject matter into works emphasizing contour and patterns. The works focus on the materiality and stylization of the imagery rather than the content itself. It is accepted that no one image is exclusively your own but is owned by the viewer and those who interpret it. It is the means and/or medium through which subject matter is presented that has the greatest impact of a viewers experience of a work

Juan Siez Swift: Juan will be sharing never released images of the 1997 "416 Graff Expo". Featuring some of Toronto and the worlds best bboys and graffiti artists of that era.

THE MUSIC

The most important part of the night of course is the Music that will keep this party going. To kick the night off and provide ammunition for the exhibitions we will have home town hero Andy B Bad Andel James. To keep the party going late into the night with a packed dance floor we have DJ Fase Fraser 'Fase' Wendt holding us down for the later shift.

A New Tradition will also be sharing a short set with us with there unique sound. A New Tradition Multi Arts Show features an interactive performance project through spoken word, music, songs, dance and visual arts.

While creating bridges across musical genres, the original compositions incorporate ancient instruments such as the over 2000 year old indigenous kuizi bunzi flute (a.k.a. Colombian gaita) with more recent instruments such as the turntables. With the use of a human beatboxer and a DJ as a significant components of the bands sonic identity the ensemble can maintain its original sound while performing with as many as thirteen musicians all the way down to three, making the show adaptable to various performance contexts.

Ancient musical styles + Hip Hop elements = A New Tradition
