Using the turntable creatively to explore sounds has been at the forefront of Cheldon Paterson aka SlowPitch’s entire adult life. Turntable composition, live performance and improvisation have been key elements whether performing solo or with culturally diverse musicians stretching from Gamelan to jazz to western classical and beyond. He is a sound artist who often incorporates unconventional functions of the turntable as well as field recordings in his compositions. Using the turntable as an instrument, Sounds are captured, looped and further brought to life by numerous filters and effects in tandem with Paterson's hypnotic tribal rhythms.

Libydo

Libydo has expressed himself through dance since childhood, influenced by a musical household and deeply inspired by breakdance in the early 80's. At a young age he started a breakdance crew called "Back II Basiks" with his peers which gained a loyal following as well the attention of Toronto based rock band "The Salads", who invited him to become a member in the early 2000's. This experience opened many doors for him professionally. He has worked with talented artists inc. K-OS, Bedouin Soundclash, Zaki Ibrahim, and Basia Bulat. Through these opportunities he further developed his own unique style, rooted in breakdance/popping and hip-hop rhythmical movement. His work has been featured in Andrea Naan’s The Whole Shebang Tour (2009), Luminato Festival (2010), Manifesto Festival’s All-Styles Exhibition (2011) & many others.
