Three excellent progressive/classic metal bands featuring:
Driftglass
Having planted its roots in the Canadian progressive metal scene more than a decade ago, Driftglass is a heavy and melodic band, drawing influences from classic metal, old-school prog as well as prog rock/metal styles from recent decades. To list only a few influences, their diverse sound at times reminds of Iron Maiden, Opeth, Dream Theater, Pink Floyd.
Slyde
Progressive metal with heavy riffs, catchy hooks, and tasty solos. Having returned from a 2-year hiatus, Slyde released a new 4-track titled "Back Again" in February earlier this year. Their releases tend to be conceptual, as is the case with with the new EP, which explores the relationship between environmentalism and sci-fi. The band's cited styles and influences include European metal, Japanese video game music, and Western grunge rock.
Prismind
Canadian metal band based out of Hamilton, Ontario. Formed in 2013, the group is known for its intricate guitar solos, amazing rhythm section and soaring vocals. Their sound is reminiscent of traditional British heavy metal with a strong modern American metal influence. Epic, heavy and progressive, with a healthy dose of classic/speed metal.
