CineCycle is pleased to present the latest in our Sounds & Silents series of classic film screenings with live soundtracks performed by a rotating roster of amazing musicians.

THE MUSICIANS:

Alan Bloorviolin, metal, originally from Windsor, Ontario, studied classical guitar, jazz bass and flamenco guitar for ten years prior to becoming one of the premier noise artists in Canada. In the late 1980s he became involved as a background noisician in poetry readings in Detroit in which he experimented with his bass guitar by placing metal objects on the strings to produce the sounds. Since then he has experimented further with found objects such as fan blades, typewriters, scrap metal and car springs. He has also supplied musical scores for performers Andrew Hammerson ex DV-8 from the UK and Jake Brown, Montral. As Knurl, he has performed solo and with Keiji Haino, David Kristian, Haters, Princess Dragon Mom, MSBR and Goverment Alpha, and collaborated live with Jim ORouke and Thurston Moore.http://www.pantarheirecordings.com/

Branko Dzinovicaccordion was born in Sabac Serbia, Europe, where he began accordion lessons at age seven. He regularly collaborates with artists coming from different types of media. He has composed the soundtracks for two award-winning short films Tata Morgana and Daddys Pride. As a soloist he has performed in Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Austria, Italy, Netherlands, and other countries. Dzinovic has recorded for Radio Belgrade, Radio Austria 1, and BBC. He is a prize winner of the 2013 DMA Recital Competition held at the University of Toronto. http://www.brankodzinovic.com/

Michael Lynnbass is an improvising upright bass player who has been active both within the Brisbane, Australia and Toronto improvising music scene. He has played in the Now, Now festival and winter tragic festival Australia, the New Music Marathon Dundas Square, the Somewhere There Festival and the 416 Festival, and he is a regular player for Somewhere There, the Array Sessions and Coexisdance. He is currently a member of the NourbeSe Phillips' Zong Ensemble and Colin Anthony's Dream Dance. For the past year he has curated a monthly improvising music series Audiopollination at Array Space www.audiopollination.ca.

Ambrose Pottiepercussion, originally from Spryfield, Nova Scotia is a Toronto based musician and graphic designer. Primarily a self taught musician, he has recorded and/or performed with Bob Becker, Anne Bourne, Chris Brown, Eugene Chadbourne, Crash Vegas, Andrew Cyrille, Fred Frith, Bill Grove, Guy Klucevsek,Evan Lurie, Polka Dogs, Tom Walsh, Richard Sacks, Eric Schenckman, Andrew Staniland, and Bob Wiseman. The highlight of his musical career was playing a metal ashtray with Allan Toussaint on a live rendition of Working in a Coal Mine.
