Canadian Athletes: A Flame within History - Official Opening

Official opening of a month-long exhibition, in which Canada’s professional portrait artists salute the upcoming Pan American and Parapan Am Games. A distinctive collection of contemporary fine art portraits portrays top Canadian athletes past and present, in a variety of styles and media.

Artists and celebrated athletes will be present, and available for autographs. Government dignitaries will also take part.

Free admission to the exhibition and opening reception.

The exhibition runs July 3-28. HOURS: Tues-Thurs: 11 am-4 pm; Friday 6-8 pm; Weekend hours vary – check www.portraitsociety.ca for details.

The event is part of the summer Cultura Festival in Mel Lastman Square, in the heart of North York. It is presented by the Portrait Society of Canada in collaboration with North York Arts, Cultura Festival and the Toronto Arts Foundation; generously supported by the Government of Ontario, City of Toronto and Toronto Centre for the Arts.
