Canada and Ukraine together - RAZOM

More than 100 performers from Canada and Ukraine will soon come together for a benefit concert to support the families of those who perished and those who were seriously injured on the streets of the Maidan in Kyiv and elsewhere in Ukraine. Titled, Canada & Ukraine Together - Razom, this unique event is undertaken to show the support Canadians have for those selfless heroes who fought for dignity, freedom and human rights in Ukraine.

The audience will be taken on a video journey to the site in central Kyiv, known as the Maidan, where the protest movement met its most tragic attacks and from which, already, the severity of the events have given rise to musical expression. Led by program director, Andrey Tarasiuk, the presentation will focus on the themes of Struggle, Sacrifice, Freedom, Hope and Responsibility.

Musical guests/recording artists from Ukraine will include:

 Taras Chubay, renowned singer, musician, songwriter, poet and social activist

 Maria Burmaka, singer, musician, songwriter and designated ‘National Artist of Ukraine’

 Mariana Sadovska, acclaimed singer, musician, actress and composer

 Serhiy ‘Foma’ Fomenko, versatile solo performer and lead singer/band leader of Mandry

Canadians taking part will include:

 Graham Greene, Academy Award nominated Canadian actor of stage, screen and TV

 Luba Goy, award winning comedic actor and original member of Royal Canadian Air Farce

 Vasyl Popadiuk, violin virtuoso and band leader of Papa Dukes

 Lemon Bucket Orkestra, "Balkan-Klezmer-Gypsy-Party-Punk” super band

 Canadian Bandurist Capella, male choral ensemble accompanied by Ukrainian ‘banduras’

 Hamilton Children’s Choir, award winning choral group with international acclaim

& other special guests

Dr. Olha Bohomolets, chief medical officer of Kyiv’s Maidan and guest of honour, will also share her first hand experiences from the deadly battles that claimed the lives of the ‘Heavenly Hundred’.

 

This unique production is totally non-profit with all proceeds going directly to Maidan victims through the assistance of the Canada Ukraine Foundation (Charity No. 898992151RR0001).
