Hot Stepper Production proudly presents DJ Andy Smith who brings his South London jam Boombox to Toronto for a rare appearance here Friday October 24 on Wrongbar’s Function One sound system!
This is going to be a fun packed night of proven dancefloor winners alongside devastating tunes that may have passed you by. It's time to hit rewind, press play and rock that old school 'Boombox' once again.
About Andy...What can we say? Well, tons actually...As Portishead’s official DJ, Andy was their travelling selector and supplier of choice breaks and samples. Don’t look for a night of (brilliant) dark trip hop at this jam though, this will be a proper party night as Andy brings a night of late 70’s to mid-90’s hip hop, reggae, disco, funk and other pleasant surprises from his varied and deep collection.
Andy can regularly be found at jams DJing alongside the likes of Daddy G of Massive Attack, Jerry Dammers of The Specials and film director/punk v reggae pioneer / musician Don Letts (Big Audio Dynamite).
So yeah...Andy knows beats and we team him up with Toronto veteran Paul E Lopes from Bump N’ Hustle and Hot Stepper Sundays here in Toronto for a massive night that we think will translate here in Toronto better than most places on this planet given the knowledgeable massive that our community is.
