Amnesty International Toronto Presents the 9th Annual Reel Awareness Film Festival

Taking place at the Carlton Cinema from November 20 to 23, the volunteer-led festival features a collection of eye-opening, critically acclaimed documentaries from around the world.

The festival kicks off on Thursday, November 20 with Silenced. Focusing on the stories of four prominent national security whistleblowers and the government’s campaign to quiet them, Silenced takes a closer look at the post-9/11 evolution of the U.S. security system.

The weekend program features more films from around the world, focusing on human rights issues in Canada, Israel, Guatemala, and Afghanistan.

Many of the films will be followed by Q&A with filmmakers, community activists, and human rights experts.
