all we ever wanted was everything // Jacob Whibley Solo Exhibition

September 5 October 3, 2015

Opening Reception: Saturday Sept 5th, 2-5pm

walking a length of corridor

calloused hands collide unintentionally

the sound of the drum is calling

traces in concrete, ochre and grease

dust settles; relay

air snaps back into place

tempered steel, tampered devotions

up, over, forward

being; a different template

- - - - - - - - -

these monuments are expecting

not time machines, but close

buffering an unstable sense of presence

hear the voice of a particular number

variant on a previous figure

extension; quotidian washes in

with unlikely tools and preferences

a finer grain, a finer texture

the sound of the drum has called

- - - - - - - - -

it might have always been our accidents

incantations shot out of darkness

compost, suspend, shift

the dust of our consensual hallucination

more now in the corners than before

less the weight of a peripheral

a peculiarity or an amplification

breaking waves set a rhythm

all we ever wanted was everything
