Alicia 4 Eva: A Celebration of Life

Please join us on Friday, November 28, at the Tranzac 292 Brunswick Avenue for a celebration of the amazing, dynamic, beautiful, and all-too-short life of Alicia Louise Merchant.

Catherine McCormick has created a Tumblr for you to share your favorite Alicia memories, photos or anything else you would like to contribute. This is open to everyone, but especially friends & loved ones who can't make it to this event in person:

Alicia Louise Merchant writer, storyteller, organizer, community nexus, incredible friend and sister was too good and too kind and too everything to leave this world. And when she died last week, she left all of us heartbroken Alicia's friends and family are organizing a party to pay tribute to everything Alicia was and the many ways she made our lives and the city of Toronto better. We apologize for the short notice, but hope you can join us -- if even for a short time -- as we pay tribute to one of the most wonderful people to ever set foot on the sidewalks of our city.

To steal a statement from Megan Griffith-Greene, 'Alicia made us better artists and she made us better friends. So I'm going to wrap myself in a coat of this; this beautiful community she built in this city and all the people who I love because she brought us together. And I'm going to hug you all a little too hard and a little too much for a long, long, long time.' So let's get together on Friday, November 28, and hug each other a little too hard. Please invite others via Facebook and email who knew and loved Alicia.

Photo slideshow, speeches, temporary tattoos, dancing.

If you have photos you'd like to contribute to the slideshow, please contact Michael Jacobs at mjacobs911[at]gmail.com.

Apologies for the short notice.
