In celebration of Black History Month, dance Immersion presents TRIBUTE: A =
Moving History of Canadian Blacks in Dance, as part of Harbourfront Centre=
=E2=80=99s NextSteps. TRIBUTE is an exciting multi-media event honouring ni=
ne dance icons from across Canada, including Len Gibson, Kevin Pugh, George=
 Randolph and others. Among the performers are Montreal=E2=80=99s Compagnie=
 Danse Nyata Nyata, as well as the TRIBUTE Crew, an ensemble cast of gifted=
 youth from COBA and the Children and Youth Dance Theatre of Toronto who an=
chor a powerful evening of dance embracing folkloric, traditional and conte=
mporary forms.=20

While TRIBUTE offers a theatrical peek into the history and artistry of =E2=
=80=9CCanadian Blacks in Dance,=E2=80=9D it also highlights how these groun=
dbreakers have inspired a whole new generation of dance artists and movemen=
t.=20

The event=E2=80=99s talented choreographers include Kevin Ormsby, Artistic =
Director of KasheDance, and the venerable Danny Grossman. The award-winning=
 Len D. Henry is the Creative Director for the evening.

dance Immersion is a Toronto-based organization that produces and promotes =
dancers and dances of the African Diaspora while providing skill developmen=
t and networking through workshops, youth arts programs, collaborative proj=
ects and forums. Vivine Scarlett is Program Director/Founder of dance Immer=
sion.

TRIBUTE runs 2 nights only, February 1 and 2, at Harbourfront Centre=E2=80=
