DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:The Red Head Gallery is pleased to present DEPARTURE, an exhibition of digi=
tal photo-based prints by Colin Carney. The show runs from January 30th to =
February 23rd, with an opening reception on Saturday February 2nd, 2 - 4pm.

Carney=CA=BCs first solo exhibition at The Red Head Gallery, DEPARTURE, ref=
erences Di Chirico=CA=BCs 1916 painting =E2=80=9CThe Melancholy of Departur=
e=E2=80=9D. A key feature of Carney=CA=BCs work is his layering of digital =
photographs. His current series focuses on spaces and circumstances which s=
tage moments of everyday departure. These range from the intimacy of an unm=
ade bed to the anonymity of a vaulted train station. Influenced by Di Chiri=
co's metaphysical paintings, Carney is interested in the underlying meaning=
ascribed by passing through or leaving these circumstances.

Colin Carney is a visual artist based in Guelph, Ontario. His studio practi=
ce incorporates digital photography, video, manual printmaking, drawing and=
painting. He is a member of The Red Head Gallery in Toronto, Ontario and t=
eaches as a sessional studio instructor at Western University in London, On=
tario.
