This year, following the AGM business meeting at 6:30 pm for CJFE members, =
we are delighted to present -=E2=80=9CI Write What I Think: A Conversation =
with Heather Mallick=E2=80=9D =E2=80=93 a stimulating talk and Q&A session =
during the AGM reception, which is open to all.

Please join us during what promises to be an entertaining and thought-provo=

Mallick, a staff columnist for the Toronto Star, grew up in small towns in =
northern Canada and now lives in Toronto. She has an M.A. in English Litera=
ture from the University of Toronto and has worked as a reporter, copy edit=
or and book review editor at various print newspapers. She wrote a column c=
alled As If in the Globe and Mail for several years, as well as a political=
 column for the New York Times Syndication Service. She also wrote columns =
for CBC for a number of years. Her first book, Pearls in Vinegar, was a mod=
ern version of the tenth-century Japanese pillow-book diary of Shei Shonago=
n. It was published by Penguin in 2004. Her second book, Cake or Death, a c=
ollection of original essays about finding consolations for living through =
the Bush era, was published by Knopf in 2007. Heather occasionally writes f=
or the "Comment is Free" section of the Guardian Online.=20

The AGM is also an ideal time to become an official CJFE member. The annual=
 membership fee is $75 or $25 for students and those on a fixed income. You=
 can sign-up and make the required payment at the registration table when y=
ou arrive.=20

ers and staff, while learning more about what the organization is doing and=
 our plans for the future.=20
