About the Bands:

Digits
Digits is an electronic pop musician in Toronto and Berlin. His music has b=
een acclaimed by The Fader, The Guardian, and the Toronto Star. He uses an =
experimental distribution model, which Wired called "bold and brave". Perfo=
rming using two synthesizers, a laptop, and a looping pedal to reproduce hi=
s songs live, he's opened for Junior Boys, Yacht, Class Actress, and Au Pal=
ais. Digits is also a member of super-slow electronic R&B act Bad Passion a=
nd blogs at Silent Shout.

Vanguards of new Toronto funk-ish, BABE boast an infectious blend of relent=
less jazz-laden rhythm, propulsive bass, and commanding soul. Playful and f=

BABE=E2=80=99s sound mixes an array of elements and has drawn wide-ranging =
comparisons from, =E2=80=98The Rapture=E2=80=99 and =E2=80=98Interpol=E2=80=
=99 to =E2=80=98The Knife=E2=80=99 and =E2=80=98FelaKuti,=E2=80=99 Stepping=
 into DNA Recording Facility in November 2011, BABE spent the three months =
recording their album with lead-singer Michael Silvestre as producer and St=
eve Chahley (Wu-Tang Clan, Neko Case) as Engineer/Mixer. The album was then=
 mastered by Phil Demetro at Lacquer Channel. This show will be the Toronto=
 Album release for their self titled debut!

Beta Frontiers
=E2=80=9CRegardless of how you classify them (Beta Frontiers), their latest=
 EP, titled simply =E2=80=A6EP, is a remarkably fun chunk of ear candy. Wit=
h five songs of largely instrumental music consisting of hummable, fuzzy sy=
nth riffs; insistent, dance floor friendly drums; and some unexpected sampl=
es, =E2=80=A6EPowes at least as much to Giorgio Moroder and The Avalanches =
as it does to Toro Y Moi.Beta Frontiers are already starting to attract som=
e blog buzz, having received love from such online tastemakers as Gorilla v=
s. Bear, Negative Youth, and Brooklyn Vegan, and recently remixed Major Laz=

About Steam Whistle UNSIGNED:
Steam Whistle UNSIGNED is an ongoing concert series that showcases Canada=
=E2=80=99s indie music talent, while also developing its future. Hosted in =
Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver each edition of UNSIGNED features =
three Canadian artists with all of the ticket sales going back to the arts =
community through Artists=E2=80=99 Health Alliance. UNSIGNED has to date fe=
atured over 70 independent Canadian acts and have raised over $70,000 for l=
ocal artists.  To bring these events together, Steam Whistle teams up with =
Pandor Productions, The Grid, and Gibson Guitars.
