Pianist Anastasia Rizikov=E2=80=99s youth and virtuosity will both amaze in=
 Chopin=E2=80=99s Piano Concerto No. 2 at Sinfonia Toronto=E2=80=99s next M=
asterpiece Series concert on November 16. The performance at 8 pm in Glenn =
Gould Studio wil also feature guest conductor Berislav Skenderovic leading =
the orchestra in Tchaikovsky=E2=80=99s beloved Serenade for Strings.

Canadian pianist Anastasia Rizikov is a remarkably poised and precocious 14=
-year-old who is already achieving remarkable acclaim. At age 11, she was F=
irst Prize winner of the Rotary International Piano Competition in Palma de=
 Mallorca, Spain, in the category for competitors up to 28 year old! She wa=
s the youngest winner in the competition=E2=80=99s 18 year history, and won=
 over other pianists more than twice her age. Nationally, Anastasia is also=
 a First Prize winner in both the Canadian Music Competition (CMC) and the =
Canadian Chopin Competition.=20

Guest Conductor Berislav Skenderovic, has studied at the Hochschule fur Mus=
ik in Munich under Wolfgang Sawalisch and Sergiu Celibidache. He has served=
 as Ballet Conductor at the Bavarian Opera Studio, as Resident Conductor of=
 the Croatian National Theatre, as Chief Conductor of the Sarajevo Radio Sy=
mphony and the Capetown Philharmonic in South Africa, and has conducted thr=
oughout Europe, South America and Asia.

Now entering its 14th season, Sinfonia Toronto has toured in Europe twice, =
receiving glowing reviews. It has released four CD=E2=80=99s including a JU=
NO winner, and performs in many Ontario cities. Its rich repertoire include=
s the string orchestra music of the 19th and 20th century, and it has premi=
ered many new works. Under the baton of Nurhan Arman the orchestra=E2=80=99=
s performances feature outstanding international artists and some of the mo=
st sought-after Canadian musicians.=20
