Girls Gaming Their Way Into Future Savvy Developers
On October 26 we are happy to have the Mathtoons team: Kristine Garn, CEO Mathtoons Media and Jessica Weeres, App Developer, Mathtoons illustrate to girls and young women how to navigate the games that are already available online and at the app stores with the intention of demonstrating how programming works in a fun and interactive manner.
This is a Bring Your Own Device workshop where participants must bring at least one mobile device ( smart phone - iPhone or Android -tablet or laptop)
This workshop was designed for 10 - 18 years old girls however, when using the online registration, everyone is welcome.
What to expect from this workshop:
Introductions - discuss coding, games, development, participant's interest and experience with writing code
Experiment with games that teach coding skills
An introduction to Mathtoons and why math skills and coding are related
Fun information about the future of coding as personal computer devices change such as the Google Glass
This is a workshop for beginners and for everyone that is curious about gaming and developing apps.
The event best suits young girls ages 10 to 18 and will be held at Education Through Media labs located at 1610 Bloor Street West, Toronto.
There will be an option for you to join online via Google Hangouts and you will receive the link to join after you register for this workshop.
