Michael Morley (The Dead C) + Tom Carter + Beard Closet
All the way from New Zealand, Dead C guitarist Michael Morley plays Toronto for the first time, after over 25 years of creating some of the most groundbreaking, challenging and integral outsider music. Expect heavy dissonance, waves of fuzz droning out over ripped sludge guitar chords. Busted lo-fi percussion bathing in spacious electronic textures. Intricate long form mediations, guitar notes ripple and spread themselves thin in a landscape of amplified breath. An experiment in the calming effects of the unknown. Don't miss this rare solo set by avant-garde heavyweight Michael Morley!
TOM CARTER (http://www.kranky.net/artists/cartert.html)
Psych folk guitarist Tom Carter (Charalambides) returns to Toronto for a solo set of electric guitar psychedelia. Tom's intricate technical playing meanders from long form beauty psych noodling to blistering dissonant tones drawn out as they waver in the wake of their own feedback. Carefully dancing these tonal textural sonic landscape pieces, Carter builds drone forms out of abrasive sculptures. Sprinkling them with gentle spectral notes, layering them like the interwoven pieces of the astral plane. Beautiful, brutal, a master of his craft.
BEARD CLOSET (http://beardcloset.bandcamp.com/)
Toronto solo guitar slow motion shredder, creates blistering wall of guitar feedback, crackling & buzzing as he pushes heavy notes like sheets of scrap metal around beneath them. Tempered with drowning ethereal tones, reaching for the higher register, haunting. A crushing symphonies for the harsh heads. As the harsh psych walls collapse, kraut inspired guitar noodling emerges, awakened in it's new freedom. Electronic hums & oscillations play with wayward guitar notes & looping minimalist patterns.
