Poseidon's Illusion: Challenging the way we see marine sustainability

Join us Saturday March 16th, for FIN's first seminar, to challenge the way you see the environment, politics, economy, and world. Your government is knowingly exterminating an industry that contributes over 9 billion dollars to Canadian GDP per year. Their claim: by decreasing the number of marine protected areas and expanding the fishing fleet - we are increasing jobs and improving the economy. This is a lie. If management of the fisheries does not change, all edible seafood will be gone by 2048, and with it 3 billion dollars per annum in Canadian household income. This is not even including the cosmetics on your dresser, margarine in your fridge, soap and hair products in your bathroom, numerous health requirements, and Garfield and Snoopy’s dinner that will also be affected or disappear.
Dr. Arthur Hanson - an Officer of the Order of Canada and a distinguished fellow from the International Institute for Sustainable Development - will be joining University of Toronto’s very own Dr. Jordan Peterson, to speak at this event. In recent years, Dr. Peterson has worked closely with a UN committee on global oceanic sustainability. It is a definite MUST that you hear this man speak! Besides his extensive knowledge base, he has won multiple orator and teaching awards, and is ranked one of the most inspirational professors at Toronto. If not for the fish, come for your mind… and failing that… come for the free drinks!
Tickets: General Admission will be $10 and Student Admission is $5. They are available for purchase through our website-

Funds will be going toward this important cause, in order to help us spread awareness and ultimately, to spark change to the current marine protection policies in Canada.
