Tôi-Me-Moi: Nugyen Minh Thanh Solo Exhibition

Nguyen Minh Thanh first broke onto the Hanoi art scene in the mid-1990s, garnering critical attention for his paintings, installations and performance art. Now, after 32 overseas exhibitions in 18 countries, he has established his reputation as one of the leading artists working in Vietnam today.

In this exhibition, Thanh utilizes the self-portrait as a vehicle to examine both personal and universal concepts of identity, spirituality and connectedness. The compositions place the individual at the centre of the picture and as the source of lush, enveloping vegetation. Earth-tones and muted pastel colours further anchor these works in a natural and contemplative sphere.
