The Creative Works Studio (CWS) is an arts-based occupational therapy community program that helps individuals living with mental health challenges and addictions heal and cope through the power of artistic expression. The studio located in South Riverdale is part of the Inner City Health Program at St. Michael’s Hospital in partnership with Good Shepherd Homes. Each year the studio hosts an art show celebrating the powerful work and expressions of its members and opening its doors to the public. For more than 14 years the studio’s impressive artwork and inviting atmospherehas impacted hundreds of people through sharing CWS members’ stories and art as part of its campaign to educate and improve the mental health literacy of the general public.
Artists, Icons and Everday People is our long-delayed annual show that had been postponed due to an unfortunate floodingby a burst in a city pipe that caused a month-long program closure. Studio members will be on hand to greet visitors and answer questions about the art and the CWS program. Affordable paintings, ceramics, art cards and our 2013 Toronto Treasures Datebook will be available for sale
