Premiere screening of TVCITY Street Style #50.
The TVCITY Street Style series, started in 2011, combines the photographic styles of Bill Cunningham and the Sartorialist Scott Schuman with an aesthetic influenced by experimental and feminist cinema. While the focus of the project is to highlight the most stylish people on the streets of Toronto, each video has become its own miniature city symphony, expanding the definition of 'style' to highlight different aspects of city life.
To accompany the release of Street Style #50, I am screening the 1960 cinema verite documentary Chronique D'un Ete by Jean Rouch and Edgar Morin. The film puts Street Style into a proper cinematic context, suggesting future directions for the genre.
