"Delightful to behold" - Indiewire
"A touching and comical portrait of passion and imagination.” – Exclaim
Since the beginning of mankind, the moon has always been an object of fascination for humans. Within the last fifty years our fascination has grown from admiring the moon from afar to dreaming of living on its cratered surface. Reminiscent of Errol Morris’ earlier films, Simon Ennis’ quirky and charming documentary Lunarcy! takes us on a remarkable journey into the lives of a handful of moon-struck individuals. The film introduces us to an eccentric cast of characters who’ve each been “touched” by this celestial object: a real-life astronaut who has walked on the moon, a self-proclaimed lunar-naut who is keen to be the first person to live on the moon’s surface, an astronomical real-estate baron who sells plots of land on this uninhabitable planet for future settlement, and a 13-year-old who stole a five-million-dollar moon-rock during the launch of Appollo 17 that he hid under his bed for years. - Robin Smith, Hot Docs
