Toronto Silent Film Festival presents The Crowd 1928
Experience Live Cinema-classic silent era film with live musical accompaniment. This afternoon we present an archival film screening of The Crowd. Director King Vidor us shows how fate can drive an ordinary life to extraordinary depths. John Sims, born on the 4th of July, seems destined for a future as promising as America's own. Fate intervenes sending him on paths he could not envision. In his trademark naturalistic style, Vidor paints a picture of human struggle both universal and unique. The Crowd asks many tough questions, but none tougher than this: in a world such as ours, what makes us think we're special?
Plus award winning modern 1 minute silents from TUFF 2012 (Toronto Urban Film Festival)
Live musical accompaniment by Laura Silberberg.
Tickets available online: $15
The festival runs April 4-9 in various theatres across the city.
