Les Roses de la Vie: a Parisian Soiree

Join Toronto Masque Theatre as we transform the historic Enoch Turner Schoolhouse into a candlelit, multi-media Parisian bistro.

Through music, song, poetry, film and movement, Les Roses de la Vie will evoke the magic and beauty of Paris. From your own table, enjoy an intimate evening showcasing music and poetry that range across the history of the city from the medieval period to the present day and includes music from Aznavour, Couperin, Chopin, Debussy, Marais, and Poulenc alongside the poetry of Appolinaire, Baudelaire, Rimbaud, and Verlaine. We will also be screening samples from classic films on the theme of Paris through the ages.

We are also delighted to announce that the evening will feature a special appearance by the acclaimed corporeal mime artist Giuseppe Condello.

Appropriate for a celebration of a city so devoted to the gourmand, the evening will include delicious French wine and cheese.

Featuring tenor Colin Ainsworth, sopranos Teri Dunn & Agnes Zsigovics and a small ensemble led from the violin by Larry Beckwith with Christopher Bagan, piano & harpsichord; Justin Haynes, viola da gamba, Kathleen Kajioka, violin
