Carnaval do Brasil Party at Lula with Baque de Bamba Luanda Jones, Afrolusophone Dance Comany + DJ E

Get this year's Brazilian Carnaval celebrations off to an early start at Lula's 2013 Carnaval Party. Featuring a dinner jazz set with Luanda Jones Trio, Dance Lesson by Samba Jess, DJ General Eclectic, samba performance by Afrolusophone and two sets by Baque de Bamba!
Luanda Jones Trio (8 PM)
Much-loved local Brazilian talent Luanda Jones returns to the Lula stage to present a night of Brazilian jazz alongside veteran jazz guitarist Reg Schwager. Luanda's new compositions bring together influences from bossa nova, jazz, electronic and afro beat. Watch for Luanda's next musical endeavor, her full-length album to be released later this year!
Dance Lsson Samba Jess (9PM)
Born to a mother from Sao Vicente, Cabo Verde and a Professional Soccer Player father from Guinea-Bissau, "Samba Jess" specializes in Brazilian Carnaval Style Samba, as well as some of the native dances from Cabo Verde and the Portuguese Diaspora.
Baque de Bamba (First set at 10PM)
Inspired by the floor-shaking rhythms and vibrant dances of North-eastern Brazil, Baaque de Bamba take you on an enlightening tour of the intoxicating grooves.
AfroLusophone Dance Company (Between sets)
AfroLusophone was created to capture the diversity present in the Lusophone -- "Portuguese Speaking" -- countries of the world.
Showcasing the energy and magnetism of Brazilian Samba, Angolan Kizomba and Cape Verdean Funana & Batuku, the company specializes in Carnaval-style Samba.
General Eclectic (All night Long!)
General Eclectic, aka Jason Saunders is, is a cultural catalyst and, as his name suggests, a truly eclectic selector. A central part of the popular Uma Nota parties, he maintains an enormous vinyl collection and has the encyclopaedic music knowledge to match it.
Admission: $10 before 10pm (or in advance at lula.ca) and $15 after 10pm.
