Just as Ruth and Stan Minsky are about to finish remodeling their empty nest, their daughter Amy lands on their doorstep. Recently dumped by her hotshot lawyer husband and with no career prospects, she spends months of wallowing in self-pity. Amy’s life is suddenly turned upside down when she falls for the handsome son of her father’s potential business partner. Jeremy (played by Christopher Abbott from HBO’s Girls) is perfect in every way, except one: he is only 19. As Amy, Melanie Lynskey (Two and a Half Men) delivers a pitch-perfect performance of an adult with a lot of growing up do. Blythe Danner, as the mother, is at her icy best.
