This is the 5th yr anniversary of FOR THE D. A night that started in earnest to celebrate the life and times of what some have argued as the greatest producer to have lived or at the very least, amongst the best: J Dilla aka Jay Dee aka James Dewitt Yancey.

Born February 7, 1974, James Dewitt Yancey was an American record producer who emerged from the mid-1990s underground hip hop scene in Detroit, Michigan.
Having worked primarily with Detroit artists, he championed a Detroit sound, quickly becoming renown having produced for A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Common, Madlib, Erykah Badu and many more. His body of work is regarded quite often as some of the best production hip hop has seen to this present day.

Feb 7th 2013, on his birthday, we remember a great musician by honouring his legacy with a night of his music, and the myriad of musicians he worked with and influenced . Guest for the night are Taktiks, and a special performance by live band RE:VERSE, and the night curated by 92BPM's mymanhenri.

As many of you well know, Toronto's love for the D has been well documented, and shown true by the very words of DJ House Shoes who told the world that only two cites were well versed in Jay Dee: Los Angeles and Toronto.

Let us show love 1nce again.
