CONVOYS: A sweaty mess of energetic dance-y garage rock. Their live show is an intense set of sharp breaks, surprise explosions, and catchy dance grooves, from beginning to end. Sometimes they tell jokes on stage, sometimes they're funny.
DAYBREAK GENTLEMEN channel everything from the English Beat to the UK Romantic era with infectious lyrics, heavily layered guitar riffs and fun 'dancey synth' elements tightly intertwined. They have a 'mid-fi' approach, having a professional sound with the tie loosened.
SECRET BROADCAST is a rock band from Calgary, now based in Toronto. Since their formation they've shared the stage with Metric, The Stills, Matthew Good, and Tokyo Police Club and have played at festivals including Virgin Fest, CMJ, CMW and NXNE. Their new EP was produced by Jon Drew (Tokyo Police Club, Fucked Up) and has received commercial praise and has charted on commercial radio stations across Canada. Their video for the single "Raygun" has also been in regular rotation at MuchLoud and AUX TV.
THE DANGER BEES: Clever self-hatred served as an accessible pop-rock package with hints of 90's alternative.
"The music of The Danger Bees covers a lot of the same ground as a band like Bright Eyes: failed romance, women being mean to you, booze, you being mean to women, booze, self-pity. But where Conor Oberst wrapped his misery in dark poetic fantasy and quasi-philosophy, The Danger Bees’ singer-songwriter David Macmichael wraps his in humour. And that’s why it works."
